To check that you have the correct font file, compare the font version of your font file to the font version provided in the Release Notes section below.

Family information

History

In 1877 Vanderburgh, Wells, and Company, a manufacturer of wood type, displayed an ornamented Celtic typeface that featured open rectilinear elements at the median of each letter. Adobe’s Pepperwood was patterned after this design and has been adapted to function as a chromatic typeface (“chromatic” or multicolored typefaces were first created by carefully registering and overprinting two or sometimes three versions of each letter in different colors to produce a flamboyant appearance). Pepperwood, released in 1994, has an alternate version of each letter which can be used for multiple color printing.

Menu Names And Style Linking

The fonts in this family have no style links: none are a bold or italic variant of another.

You should note that selecting a style option such as bold or italic with any of these faces will either have no effect, or result in programmatic bolding or slanting of the base font, which will usually produce inferior screen and print results.

About Chromatic Fonts

Font faces in this family can be used in normal fashion alone, but are also designed to by used with one face overlaid on top of another and in different colors or percentages of black.

Corrected font menu names in name table for Mac platform names. Name
ID's 1,2 16 and 17 are now written following the same rules as the
Windows platform names. Previous releases put the Preferred Name
and Style in Mac platform name ID 1 and 2, and did not write name ID
16 and 17, for legacy issues with old Mac OS versions.

Corrected OS/2.WeightClass value.

Known issues

Some glyphs in the font cannot be accessed unless you are using an OpenType compatible application.
