To check that you have the correct font file, compare the font version of your font file to the font version provided in the Release Notes section below.

Family information

History

Based on 10th century Carolingian scripts, Silentium Pro sparkles with a quiet but ebullient sense of the human hand. As a multi-featured Adobe^® Originals OpenType^® family, Silentium includes myriad alternate forms, ligatures, and titling characters that add an air of tasteful liveliness to contemporary graphic design and typography. Designed by Yugoslavian calligrapher and type designer Jovica Veljovic, Silentium works well in both display sizes and text setting as small as 8 points. Silentium is the Latin word for silence, a discipline commonly practiced in the medieval European monasteries and court scriptoria where the Carolingian script flourished. Now, more than ten centuries later, Silentium Pro brings the fluid energy of their work to contemporary design and typography.

Menu Names And Style Linking

The fonts in this family have no style links: none are a bold or italic variant of another.

You should note that selecting a style option such as bold or italic with any of these faces will either have no effect, or result in programmatic bolding or slanting of the base font, which will usually produce inferior screen and print results.

Added code at end of name ID 3 'Unique Name' to indicate licensing foundry.
Remove deprecated ForceBold keyword from CFF table.
Update OS/2 table to version 4: add WPF names name ID 21 and 22 to name table, if needed.

version 2.045 created 2010/01/14

Corrected font menu names in name table for Mac platform names. Name
ID's 1,2 16 and 17 are now written following the same rules as the
Windows platform names. Previous releases put the Preferred Name
and Style in Mac platform name ID 1 and 2, and did not write name ID
16 and 17, for legacy issues with old Mac OS versions.

Added superior alternates for lowercase a and o.
Added glyphs: a.superior as duplicate of ordfeminine; o.superior as duplicate of ordmasculine.
Changed substitutions in 'ordn' from ordinals to these new alternates. Added substitutions to 'sups'.
Added superior alternates for numbers.
Added glyphs: one.superior, two.superior, three.superior as duplicates of onesuperior, twosuperior, threesuperior.
Changed substitutions in 'sups' to use new alternates.
Simplified 'ordn' feature.
Removed contextual rules from 'ordn' feature. Simplified substitutions.
Added f-ligatures for use in 'liga' feature.

Added 'subs' feature, identical to 'sinf' feature.
Changed ornament glyph names.
Glyphs which had a base name of 'orn' were changed to a base name of 'bullet' to ensure proper name-to-character mapping.
Added glyph "i.dot".
Added glyph "i.dot" as duplicate of glyph "i". Added 'locl' feature to substitute "i.dot" for "i" in certain languages (e.g. Turkish). Added 'locl' feature to 'aalt' feature list.
Renamed litre glyph "afii61289" to "uni2113".
Renamed "commaaccent" as "space_uni0326".
Renamed uppercase accent glyphs.
Changed unconventional names of uppercase accents to conventional names, e.g. Acute into acute.cap, Grave into grave.cap.
Changed name of glyph "idotaccent.titling" to "i.dottitling".
Corrected glyph names with PUA Unicode values.
Glyph with names corresponding to Unicode values in the Private Use Area (e.g. "uniF123") were given descriptive names adhering to Adobe's glyph name conventions.
Changed PUA uni names to descriptive names.
Corrected names of superior and inferior numbers.
Previous names did not conform to Adobe's glyph name conventions.
Changed names of glyphs ending in "oldstyle" to ".oldstyle".
Previous names did not conform to Adobe's glyph name conventions.
Corrected names of ligature glyphs: ff --> f_f; ffi --> f_f_i; ffl --> f_f_l.
Added substitution for "currency.oldstyle" to oldstyle numerals ('onum') feature.
Added 'ss01' feature.
Added a stylistic set ('ss01') for a set of related uppercase alternates.
Changed glyph name "emspace" to "uni2003".
Updated legal notices (trademark and copyright) for accuracy. Amended, changed and deleted as necessary. Ensured 'Notice' field in CFF fontinfo dictionary is the union of copyright and trademark notices in OTF 'name' table.
Added uni2010 (hyphen2).
Added 'size' feature containing a design size value.
Add default language system.
OpenType^® language system coverage for script 'dflt' and language 'DFLT' was added.

First release as OpenType.

Known issues

Some glyphs in the font cannot be accessed unless you are using an OpenType compatible application.
