Mário Feliciano
Mário José Ferreira Feliciano was born in 1969 in Caldas da Rainha, north of Lisbon, Portugal. Since high school Feliciano has been creating his own lettering, and as soon as the computer came along, he started designing fonts. After studying communication design at the Art & Design Institute in Lisbon, he became a graphic designer for the surf magazine, SurfPortugal. A year later, in 1994, he established his own Lisbon graphics studio called Secretonix, where he and another designer create almost anything printable. Feliciano is one of only a few type designers in Portugal, and he teaches typography at an independent art school in Lisbon. In 1999, he became the sole agent in Portugal for The Enschedé Font Foundry. As if that weren't enough to keep him busy, Feliciano is also a musician. He and his studio partner star in the band, “Red Beans.”
